Here in the Northern Hemisphere as we approach the Winter Solstice there is a sense of everything standing still and drawing inwards. The December Yoga practice below incorporates periods of quiet reflection, as we stay in yoga poses for a few breaths. As we hold the poses there is an emphasis on relaxing in to the pose on the exhale, which is deeply relaxing and nourishing. The Winter Solstice celebrates the return of the sun bringing longer days and shorter nights. The juxtaposition of poses like little child and cobra variations reflect this sense of the world waking up and coming back to life again, like a seed awakening.
